A popular use for augmented reality is for game engines- but high school students from Hampton City Schools learned this technology can be used for future career pathways!
Team members from the Digital Shipbuilding program at ODU-VMASC conducted a STEM workshop to show students how to develop augmented reality, a technology that is being integrated into shipbuilding and repair yards in the region! Students learned different applications using the Unity3D game engine with different types of hardware to build an AR Android application.
This was so much fun! I had no idea that I could use AR in a future career.
My son was completely blown away- he walked away knowing how to create some AR today!

This session gave me so many ideas on a future career. Now my mom believes me that game design can be a valid career with the software I could develop!
